Biofiller (PRF Gel) vs Dermal Filler: How the Treatments Differ

WELLNESS + RESTORATION

Biofiller (PRF Gel) is sometimes described as a natural alternative to filler, but that shorthand can be misleading. The two treatments differ in what they are made from, how consistently they create volume, how long their effects may be noticeable, and what treatment goals they are best suited to address.

What Biofiller (PRF Gel) is made from

At MajorGlow, Biofiller (PRF Gel) is prepared using Bio-PRF technology. Selected plasma components are heated and cooled to create an albumin gel, then combined with PRF for a smooth injectable designed for gentle volume support.

Because the material is autologous, its consistency and biological composition are not identical to a manufactured filler product.

What dermal filler is designed to do

Many dermal fillers use cross-linked hyaluronic acid to create predictable gel structure. Product families vary in firmness, flexibility, cohesivity, and how they integrate with tissue.

That range allows an injector to select a product for a specific structural job, such as lip shaping, chin projection, cheek support, or smoothing a contour transition.

Volume predictability is different

Dermal fillers are formulated for more predictable volume and contouring. Biofiller (PRF Gel) takes a softer approach, combining subtle volume support with blood-derived regenerative components.

That difference matters when a patient wants a highly defined structural change rather than a softer regenerative approach.

Where Biofiller may fit

Biofiller (PRF Gel) appeals to those seeking subtle rejuvenation using components of their own blood. It may be considered for selected under-eye hollows, early facial volume changes, and skin quality concerns.

Not all under-eye shadows come from volume loss. We assess hollowness, skin quality, and puffiness before recommending a treatment.

Choosing between them

The decision should be based on the desired degree of structural change, the area being treated, treatment timeline, product preferences, and the injector's assessment of anatomy.

In some patients, neither option is the best answer and a skin-focused or surgical approach may better match the concern.
