Fat-Dissolving Injections & Kybella®
Targeted Fat Reduction for More Defined Contours
OUR APPROACH
Sometimes definition comes from reducing—not adding.
Fat-dissolving injections are designed to reduce carefully selected pockets of localized fat that can soften otherwise defined contours. Kybella® is one treatment option specifically FDA-approved for moderate to severe fullness beneath the chin in adults.
Rather than adding volume or changing facial features, treatment focuses on selectively reducing fullness where appropriate. Each plan is personalized according to the treatment area, anatomy, skin quality, and overall aesthetic goals.
WHO IT’S FOR
More definition, without adding volume.
Fat-dissolving injections may be appropriate for adults bothered by small, localized pockets of fullness and looking for a nonsurgical approach to more defined contours.
Candidacy depends on the treatment area, amount and distribution of fullness, surrounding anatomy, skin quality, and individual goals. Injectable fat reduction is intended for localized contouring—not overall weight loss.

HOW IT WORKS
Precision Fat Reduction
Fat-dissolving injections are placed into carefully selected pockets of localized fat with the goal of gradually reducing fullness over time. Treatment planning varies according to the area being treated, your anatomy, and the injectable treatment selected.
Targeted Treatment

Treatment is directed specifically to the selected pocket of localized fat rather than changing the surrounding structure or adding volume.
Precise Planning
A customized injection pattern is mapped according to your anatomy, distribution of fullness, and treatment goals.
Gradual Refinement

Changes develop progressively as the treated area responds, allowing contours to become more defined over time.
Long-Term Contouring
Results are intended to create lasting improvement in the treated area. Longevity varies by treatment and individual, and maintaining a stable weight helps preserve the resulting contour.
TREATMENT AREAS
Less fullness. More definition.
Different areas of localized fullness require different treatment considerations. Kybella® is FDA-approved specifically for moderate to severe submental fullness beneath the chin in adults.
For other areas, candidacy and available treatment options are determined individually following medical evaluation. The treatment selected depends on the area, anatomy, skin quality, amount of localized fat, and surrounding structures.
Double Chin
A cleaner transition from chin to neck.
Submental fullness can soften the jawline and blur the natural separation between the face and neck.
Kybella® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for moderate to severe fat beneath the chin in adults. Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, disrupts targeted fat cells within the treatment area.
The body gradually clears the affected cells, allowing the chin-to-neck transition to become more defined over time.
Treatment is carefully mapped according to your individual anatomy and distribution of submental fullness.

YOUR APPOINTMENT
What to Know
A little planning makes the process easier.
Swelling, tenderness, bruising, and temporary firmness can occur following fat-dissolving injections, although the degree and duration vary depending on the treatment area and treatment performed.
Results develop gradually rather than overnight. Understanding the expected recovery process and allowing enough time between treatment and important plans can make the experience easier to navigate.
Before Treatment
+
Your provider will review your medical history, medications, supplements, allergies, previous procedures, and the area you would like treated.
Certain medications or supplements may increase bruising, but do not discontinue prescribed medication unless instructed by the clinician who manages it.
Treatment should be postponed if there is active infection or significant irritation in the planned treatment area.
After Treatment
+
Swelling, tenderness, bruising, redness, numbness, and temporary firmness may occur after treatment.
Avoid repeatedly pressing or manipulating the treated area unless specifically instructed to do so.
Your provider will give you aftercare instructions based on the treatment performed and will explain which symptoms are expected and which should prompt medical evaluation.
Timing Your Treatment
+
Fat-dissolving treatments are best planned with recovery time in mind.
Visible swelling can occur, particularly following treatment beneath the chin, and may be more noticeable during the first several days.
If you have an important event, photography, travel, or another treatment planned, discuss the timing with your provider beforehand.
Recovery & Swelling Timeline
+
Recovery varies according to the treatment performed, treatment area, and individual response.
Swelling and tenderness are generally most noticeable early in recovery and gradually improve. Temporary firmness, numbness, or palpable areas beneath the skin may last longer.
Your provider will discuss the recovery pattern expected for your individual treatment plan.
Refinement Through Restraint
Our approach to injectable fat reduction begins with understanding what is creating fullness and what gives the surrounding area its natural structure.
Reducing fat is only part of the equation. Proportion, skin quality, surrounding anatomy, and the relationship between adjacent contours all influence the final result.
Treatment is planned conservatively around your individual anatomy, with careful attention to where reduction can create greater definition and where volume should remain.
The goal is not to remove as much as possible. It is to reduce only what is obscuring the structure already there.
Less volume. More structure. Still you.
FAQ
What are fat-dissolving injections?
+
Fat-dissolving injections are nonsurgical injectable treatments used to reduce carefully selected pockets of localized fat. They are intended for contouring specific areas rather than overall weight loss.
The appropriate treatment depends on the area being treated, your anatomy, skin quality, amount of fullness, and individual goals.
Is this a weight-loss treatment?
+
No. Fat-dissolving injections are designed for localized contouring rather than overall weight reduction.
They are generally best suited for patients who are near a stable weight but remain bothered by a specific pocket of fullness.
Can fat-dissolving injections help define the jawline?
+
Sometimes—when localized fat is actually contributing to the lack of definition.
A softer jawline may also result from chin or jaw structure, skin laxity, muscle activity, or a combination of factors. We evaluate what is creating the contour concern before determining whether reducing fat, supporting structure, improving skin quality, or combining approaches makes the most sense.
What areas can be treated with fat-dissolving injections?
+
KYBELLA® is specifically FDA-approved for moderate to severe fullness beneath the chin.
Other small, localized areas of fullness may be evaluated individually for injectable contouring. Candidacy depends on the specific area, amount and depth of fat, surrounding anatomy, skin quality, and treatment option being considered.
Are fat-dissolving results permanent?
+
With KYBELLA®, targeted fat cells that are destroyed are permanently eliminated. However, remaining fat cells can still enlarge with future weight gain, so maintaining a relatively stable weight helps preserve the resulting contour.
Results and longevity with other injectable treatments depend on the treatment performed and individual response.
How much swelling or downtime should I expect?
+
Swelling is common after fat-dissolving injections and can be particularly noticeable following KYBELLA® treatment beneath the chin.
Bruising, tenderness, redness, numbness, and temporary firmness may also occur. Recovery varies depending on the treatment performed, treatment area, and individual response.
If you have an important event coming up, discuss timing with your provider before scheduling treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
+
Treatment plans vary according to the treatment selected, area being treated, amount of fullness, individual response, and desired degree of correction.
For KYBELLA®, the FDA-approved prescribing information allows up to six treatments beneath the chin, spaced at least one month apart. Many patients may require fewer.
Your recommended treatment plan is determined after evaluation.
Can fat-dissolving injections be combined with other treatments?
+
Yes, when clinically appropriate.
Fat reduction addresses localized fullness, but it does not directly correct every cause of an undefined contour. Depending on your anatomy and goals, treatment may be incorporated into a broader plan involving skin tightening, neuromodulators, dermal filler, or other contouring treatments.
These treatments do not necessarily need to be performed during the same appointment.
Who is a good candidate for fat-dissolving injections?
+
Good candidates generally have a small, defined pocket of localized fat rather than generalized fullness or a weight-loss concern.
Skin quality and anatomy also matter. If skin laxity, muscle activity, or underlying facial structure is primarily responsible for the concern, another treatment—or a combination approach—may be more appropriate.
Is KYBELLA® only for under the chin?
+
Yes. KYBELLA® is FDA-approved specifically for submental fat beneath the chin.
It is not approved for treatment of fat elsewhere on the body, and current FDA labeling recommends against using KYBELLA® outside the submental region.
If another localized area is bothering you, it can be evaluated separately to determine what treatment options may be appropriate.
Are all injectable fat-reduction treatments the same?
+
No. Different injectable treatments may have different ingredients, indications, regulatory status, treatment protocols, and risk profiles.
At MajorGlow, treatment recommendations are based on the area being treated, your anatomy, skin quality, and individual goals. When applicable, the regulatory status, expected benefits, alternatives, limitations, and risks of the treatment being considered are reviewed with you before treatment.
What is KYBELLA® and how does it work?
+
KYBELLA® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment for improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe fullness caused by fat beneath the chin in adults.
Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, disrupts targeted fat-cell membranes. The body gradually clears the affected cells, allowing submental fullness to decrease and the chin-to-neck contour to become more defined over time.
